Field notes for founders who are building right now

The Dealhalcyon blog is where our coaches write about the parts of running a startup that do not fit neatly into a course module — the awkward customer conversations, the pricing decisions that keep you up at night, and the fundraising groundwork that has to be done long before an investor ever sees a deck. No listicles, no recycled Twitter threads. Just hard-won notes from people who have actually built and sold businesses in Australia.

Two articles that answer the questions founders ask us most

If you are new to the site, these two pieces give you a sense of how we teach and what we believe. Read them before you browse the rest.

Fresh from the journal

Post length is deliberate — short enough to read with a coffee, detailed enough that you can put something to work the same day.

Our angle

Written by working founders, not content marketers

Every article on this blog comes from somebody who has actually sat in the chair — building a product, hiring a first employee, or negotiating a term sheet that did not go the way they hoped. We do not outsource the writing, and we do not publish anything a coach would not say out loud in a live session.

If a post feels soft or vague, it does not get published. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and it is why the blog updates fortnightly rather than daily.

What we write about

Posts fall into the same broad areas our courses cover. If a topic is not here yet, send us a suggestion and we will consider it for the next cycle.

Foundations

Idea validation, customer interviews, offer design and the first ugly landing page that proves somebody will pay.

Fundraising

Metrics, models, SAFEs, term sheets and how to run an investor process without losing your mind or your equity.

Growth

Pricing, retention, repeatable sales and the decisions that separate a hobby from a business that actually compounds.

Founder life

The parts nobody warns you about — burnout, co-founder friction, saying no to the wrong customer, and staying sane through the dip.

When reading is not enough

The blog is a good warm-up, but the real progress happens when you get direct feedback on your own business. That is what our two flagship programmes do — live coaching, weekly deliverables, and small cohorts where every founder is heard.

  • Twelve live sessions in the Startup Launch Blueprint
  • Sixteen live sessions in the Funding & Growth Accelerator
  • Capped cohorts of thirty founders per programme
  • Permanent access to the alumni community after graduation

Reader questions

What people ask about the blog

If your question is not here, send it through the contact form and we will answer it in the next post. Plenty of our best articles started as reader emails.

Send a question

Roughly twice a month. We would rather publish two well-researched posts than eight rushed ones. If you subscribe to the newsletter, you will get each new piece once when it goes live and nothing in between.

Please do. A good chunk of our posts begin as questions from readers or course participants. Send it through the contact form with the subject line "blog suggestion" and we will follow up if we decide to write about it.

No. Every post is written by one of our coaches and edited by another before it goes live. That is why the voice stays consistent and the examples are always specific to businesses we have actually worked with.

Completely free and open. We do not gate any articles behind an email form, and there is no paywall on older posts. If you want new posts in your inbox, you can subscribe to the newsletter — but it is optional, and you can unsubscribe with one click.

You are welcome to quote a couple of sentences with a link back to the original post. Full copies are not permitted. If you want to share something widely, drop us an email and we will almost always say yes in writing.

Stay in the loop

Get each new article once by email

No drip sequences, no pitch funnels, no selling your address. Just a short note every other week when something new goes up, plus the occasional template we build for the courses.
